The Boys of ’36

The Boys of ’36

Come join the Vashon Island Rowing Club for a special live feed on the big screen at the Vashon Theatre of the highly-anticipated documentary “The Boys of ’36.” Based on Daniel James Brown’s best-seller “The Boys in the Boat,” the documentary tells the inspiring, true story of the rough-and-tumble ‘band of brothers’ who rowed for the University of Washington, fending off all challengers to reach the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Against all odds, both personal and competitive, the “boys” carried  their nation on their shoulders during an epic battle against Adolf Hitler’s handpicked team.

Presented by Greentech, PBS and Vashon Island Rowing Club, this FREE screening of “The Boys of ’36” begins at 9pm on Tuesday, August 2nd at the Vashon Theatre. Doors open at 8:30, with a short, pre-program hosted by the rowing club at 8:45.
