Passport to Pain Fundraiser
On September 17, VIRC is holding a rousing fundraiser: Passport to Pain. P2P is a grueling 75 mile island ride with 10,000 feet of vertical climb followed by a pleasant BBQ. Are you up for the challenge?? Anyone who’s cycled Vashon knows the island is a series of butal hills connected by short sections of… well, less brutal hills. It’s been said that cycling one mile on Vashon is really like three miles.
Each participating rider will be issued a souvenir P2P passport that is shown at 18 strategic checkpoints along the course, proving the completion of that hilly section. For every passport stamp a rider obtains, a $5 deduction is taken from the original $100 donation (not required to ride the course). If 75 miles seems a bit much, there’s a 48 and 30 mile ride option for the more sane cyclists. Proceeds to be split with the Vashon Food Bank and the Junior Crew.
