New Boat Gets Christened

The new Wintec straight quad rowing boat arrived and has officially been christened Judd Creek.  The boat’s namesake is formed from four tributary streams that flow south from the Island Center Forest.  Judd Creek then flows into the western side of Quartermaster Harbor, the launching point for the rowing club’s daily practices.  Pouring the bubbly over the bow of the boat was Aliana Williams, a VIJC alum who currently rows for Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Aliana, Mia Croonquist, Shannon Lipe and Ella McConnell had the privledge of a quick row around the harbor after the ceremony.  “This boat is much lighter and very easy to pick up and carry.  The row was smooth and fast.”, said Lipe.  The rowers are looking forward to competing with the Judd Creek in the upcoming Spring season.
