Adult Learn to Row Classes

The 2018 Learn-to-Row season is upon us! If you want to try the exciting sport of rowing or know someone who does, now is the time to sign up. You can row for fun, fitness, camaraderie, and, if you wish, competition along with adult rowers ranging in age from 21 to 80 and up.

VIRC is offering two Learn-to-Row sessions this summer. LTR 1 in July and LTR 2 in August. 

Learn to Row 1

LTR 1 is for rowers who are completely new to the sport. Cost $200.

LTR 1 Schedule

First two classes meet at the Indoor Training Center from 6-8pm. The ITC is located on Sunrise Ridge,10030 SW 210th St Vashon.

Learn to Row 2

LTR 2 is designed for rowers who took LTR 1 and returning rowers who want to brush up on the basics. Emphasis will be on increasing confidence and skill in all things rowing. Cost $200 with a discount rate of $125 for current VIRC members. Contact registration@vashoncrew.com for a coupon if you are a current member registering for LTR 2.

Prerequisites

All participants must complete the following prerequisites.

Float Test: ​This in-the-water task requires you, under the supervision of a certified lifeguard, to tread water in clothing for 10 minutes and don a personal flotation device in the water. You may do this at most Island pools. Print the Float Test Form and have a certified lifeguard complete the form. You will give the signed form to the instructor at the first class.

USRowing Waiver: Print out the USRowing Waiver and complete, sign, and return it to the instructor by the first class.

Physical Abilities: ​You must be able to lift 35 lbs overhead (with assistance of your teammates) and walk up to 50 yards with the boat on your shoulder.

How to Enroll

Click on the links below to enroll. All classes require a minimum enrollment of 4 and maximum of 8. If registration is full and you are still interested, email registration@vashoncrew.com and you will be put on a list. If there is sufficient interest, a second class may be offered.
